Summer has finally arrived! Remember, we DO continue dancing now throughout the summer – but only on second Saturday’s (once a month) and our dress code is relaxed to ‘smart’ casual.
Since this news release must go in early this month, please remember that on June 12th we will sponsor an Alumni Dance/Ice Cream Social. We are inviting previous club members to come and socialize with us again. Many of our former dancers cannot dance any longer due to various reasons, but we do like to share the good times with them!
Our summer Plus Workshop started on May 24th from 6:30 to 8 pm at the Senior Nutrition Center. We’ve been having between 3-4 squares each night, and want to thank the people from Lake Havasu City that are coming up every week to attend. The last class will be held on August 24th and we are planning a pool party again at the Wilder’s home.
Our July 10th dance, Mid-Summer Nights Dreams, is going to be held in a special location this year! We have been invited to do a demonstration for the Kingman Board of Realtors at their summer picnic (scheduled now for 12:30 pm) which will be held at Hualapai Mountain State Park, and they have graciously offered the pavilion they are renting to have our dance that night. Our dance time will still be 7-9:30 pm, but the location is at the park. Directions are take I-40 exit 52 (Stockton Hills Road), turn south and follow all the way up the mountain to park entrance (on the right). Note: Stockton Hills Road becomes Hualapai Mountain Road after it crosses Andy Devine Rd (Dambar Steakhouse). If you have any questions and wish to attend this dance, please view the flyer for the point of contacts. When you arrive at the park entrance, ask attendant for directions to Pavilion 1.
The Annual Club Summer Picnic in the Hualapai’s will be held on August 1st this year. See flyer for details, but bring a dish to share and come cool off in the mountains.
The last summer dance this year will be held on August 14th, Hot August Nights. Mike will be calling and there will be no rounds since we don’t have cuer’s during summer months (they all go north – I wonder why?)
Beginner’s classes will be starting again for us on September 7th – as always we have a plus workshop from 6 – 7 pm, then classes run from 7 – 8:30 pm. Anyone interested in learning is welcomed!
The new dance season will start off with our Welcome Back dance on September 11th – Mike Wilder will be calling and Carolyn Cook cueing.
REMEMBER that our dances and classes have permanently moved to the Senior Nutrition Center at 1776 Airway Road in Kingman and that our dance times are now 7-9:30 pm MST (AZ) with no pre-rounds. We continue having two rounds between tips (when we have a cuer).
